It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks and the it’s not over yet. I attended Emerald City Comic Con in late August and had the opportunity to talk with many of my fellow artists. I’m am always grateful when an established pro takes the time to look at my portfolio and give me constructive feedback. I gave away some copies of the Feral Star #0 mini-comic to my favorite artists in gratitude. Daniel Warren Johnson was kind enough to talk about my comic on his “Friday With DDubs” YouTube show! Last weekend, I attended Rose City Comic Con and, once again, had a great time talking with artists, receiving feedback, and attending presentations. One stand out presentation for me was hosted by Dark Horse Comics titled “Creator Owned Comics” featuring Brian Michael Bendis, Zach Kaplan, James Asmus, and others. I came to the realization that I should be sharing my work not only with other artists and publishers but also with writers. Writers are more likely to become future collaborators than fellow artists.
Today, I’m flying out to DC to visit friends and attend Small Press Expo. I’ll be hustling, chatting, and soaking up the culture. Maybe I’ll see you there! Cheers.
