Greetings! I know it has been a while since I last posted a new page of Feral Star but I am happy to be back at the drawing table. You may have noticed that I have changed the title of this story to Feral Star: The Reign in Tremaine starting with this post. It has been a working title for a while but I felt it was time to make it official here. Dillon, Vaughn and what’s left of their crew are confronting Countess Keerla Virlamin hoping they can convince her to take her business off Tremaine. I hope you enjoy this installment.
Welcome new followers! Yes, I guess it has been over a month since I attended Indie Comics Creator Con in New Haven, CT and met many incredible indie comic fans and creators, some of whom expressed an interest in Feral Star and following the story online. I hope it wasn’t too surprising when you received that email the other day saying you were now subscribed to this Substack. I’m sure a couple folks were like, “who is this John Burkett guy and how did he get my email address?” It was at ICCC and I hope you’ll find that what’s to come on these pages was worth the wait. So again, Welcome!
Speaking of ICCC, I had a new batch of Feral Star #0 printed just in time for the con and it was very popular. The new printing is a full-size (6 5/8” x 10 1/4”), 20-page comic. In addition, I also printed the first 16 pages of Feral Star: The Reign in Tremaine as a limited edition mini-comic. Both are available for purchase now at my webshop! Prices include shipping. Commission can also be purchased through my shop. So, if you are itching for some original art, hit me up!
May 4th is Free Comic Book Day! If you are unfamiliar with FCBD it is a chance to pick up some stellar new comics at your local comic shop for free! These free books are limited in supply so show up early to your LCS. It is also a chance to show your support for your comic shops by purchasing some of your favorite comics and graphic novels. Many shops will also have special events like visiting comic artists and writers selling and signing their books. This year, I will be at Cosmic Monkey Comics in Portland, OR from 10am to noon with copies of my Feral Star books and two GHOST Agents treasuries: Apocalyptico and Crimson Reckoning. So, stop on by and say “Hi” and pick up some signed books! Or just say “Hi”. That is fine too.
I think that is all the news I have for now (although I always feel I’m forgetting something). I anticipate the content of this site may end up becoming a bit more diversified as I am currently working on a couple different comic projects. I am not sure which ones I can talk about yet so we’ll just leave it at that. In the meantime, thanks for subscribing and joining me on the Feral Star journey. Please be sure to tell your comics-loving friends about this site and be sure to visit my webshop to pick up the real deal, physical item!
Cheers,
John
Nice inking, John!
Great stuff! I always look forward to your updates! Keep them coming!
