Heroes Con 2025 Recap
Heroes Con 2025 is over and it was probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a comic convention. It is one of the rare events that it is still mainly focused on comics and comic creators and has been since the 70’s. Many large comic conventions have morphed over the years to become more “pop culture” events that celebrate in addition to comics: movies, celebrities, anime, cosplay, games, etc. Comics creators, especially indie comics creators like myself, tend to lost in the cacophony of other distractions at those types of events. By contrast, Heroes Con felt like a family reunion. There were so many talented comic creators of all levels some of whom have been tabling at this event for decades. This was my first time but I will definitely be coming back. Speaking of family, the Cosmic Lion Productions crew was heavily represented this year at Heroes Con. I think we only missed one or two (Chris Anderson and Kevin Delgado) in this group photo.

I really enjoyed meeting the very enthusiastic comic fans and chatting about their favorite comics and, for some, creating some special, one of a kind art!
This guy is a GHOST Agents super fan so I threw in the GHOST Agents theme song on flexidisk at no charge. I did that for a couple GA fans and now I’m out of flexidisks. I also sold lots of Feral Star and I am told that the Cosmic Lion webshop is running low on Feral Star 1! So, if you’d like a copy, hit the button below.
I will be stocking my own website with Feral Star 1 soon with a sketchcard add on. For now, it is the only place to buy the original Feral Star 0. You’ll have to hit the “comics” menu link on the homepage.
GHOST Agents is still one of the hottest book (now several books) on the market. Check out what’s available on the Cosmic Lion webshop.
The first commission request I received was from an avid collector named Tim who had a list of characters that I could choose from to draw. I had never drawn Batgirl so, I did my best take on the character. He provided very good reference photos.
Thanks, Tim!
The next set of commissions I received were from a father and son (both named Tony) who requested Star Wars themed drawings.
Thanks!
One of the highlights of Heroes Con is the Saturday night auction which raises money for charity. Artists like Skottie Young, Kevin Eastman (donated by Steve Oliffe), Kevin Nowlan, and many others donated incredible pieces of art for the cause. I also donated a drawing as well but it was relegated to the Sunday live auction due to time constraints and no-name recognition (I suppose). Here is my Optimus Prime with Megatro’s arm inspired by Daniel Warren Johnson’s current Transformers story arc.
If you enjoy these and would like me to do a commission for you either send me a message or you can buy directly from my website. I currently have a sale going on for the 6x9 and 9x12 commissions! Hit me up.
All in all, I had a fantastic time reuniting and meeting new creators and fans alike. I wish I had had more time to network or chat with some of my personal heroes who were in attendance (too numerous to list) but I guess I can save that for next year. If you’d like to get a feel for what it was like to walk the floor of the convention, check out this fantastic video from West Coast Davengers! (He chats with me at the 08:30 mark)
Thanks to Dave for being such a champion of indie comics!
Welp, that’s all I have for now. I hope that this has inspired some of you to check out the next comic convention in your area and explore what the comic creators have to offer. You wont be disappointed.
Cheers,
John
